SJ Theatre
The Saint Joseph High School theatre program enables students to participate as performers, set designers, directors, choreographers, and technical crew members. Productions are 100% student managed and produced. SJ Theatre partners with St. John Bosco High School to produce four outstanding performances each year; two at SJHS and two at Bosco. DRAMA CLUB DRAMA 1 Drama 1 is a one-‐‑semester course designed to introduce students to the art and craft of live performance. Topics include the tools of an actor, the design process, costume design, theatre history, and dramatic criticism. Students will present scenes, design costumes, see productions, and participate in a variety of tasks associated with production. DRAMA 2 Drama 2 builds on the techniques of Drama I to explore scene study, Shakespeare, and improvisation. Special attention is paid to the role of the director as leader of the production process. Students will also design sets and learn theatrical make-‐‑up skills. After attending productions, students are then required to take on a production role in a showcase of scenes. |
